A large cruise ship is in the ocean.

Travel Smart with PamRoc: Where to Go?

When my friends call me and say, “I want to go on a cruise!” my first response is always, “Great! Where do you want to go?” Nine times out of ten, their answer is, “I don’t know, somewhere cheap.” Here’s the thing—there are so many cruise ships and destinations out there.

Before reaching out to your travel agent or planning your next cruise vacation, take some time to consider where you want to go. Are you dreaming of the Caribbean? Bahamas? Italy? Alaska? Turkey? Greece? England? The options are endless!

Cruising is a love-it-or-leave-it experience for most people. Personally, I love it! One of my favorite things about cruising is being on the water. And here’s a big perk: if bad weather strikes, cruise ships can adjust course and head toward sunnier skies. On an island, though, you’re stuck with whatever weather comes your way.

Some say, “Try a short cruise first to see if you like it.” While that might work for some, shorter cruises often cater to the party crowd—think college kids letting loose or young people partying till dawn. (Trust me, I’ve been there!) If you want a better taste of what cruising is really about, I recommend starting with at least a 5-night cruise. Even better, 7-night cruises often offer fantastic deals and let you fully immerse yourself in the experience.

If you’re flexible with travel dates, we can find great prices and itineraries that allow you to visit multiple destinations in just one week.

So, take a moment to reflect: Where do you want to go? When do you want to go? Answering these questions will help your cruise consultant create the perfect vacation for you. Bon voyage!
