PamRoc Rewinds: Finding my Soulmate – Totally Worth the Wait!

It took me 49 years to find my soulmate, but Rocco was worth every single minute of that wait (and yep—every bad date, ghosted text, and cringe-worthy “you’ll love my mom” moment along the way).

Let’s rewind to June 2019. My bestie Michelle and I were out celebrating her divorce at Bill’s Seafood in Clinton, CT. But we weren’t just celebrating—we were making a statement. Michelle wore a shirt that said “Just Divorced”, and mine? “Divorce Support”. We were a walking comedy duo with a side of sass and zero shame. Naturally, the shirts got attention. But one guy in particular stood out…

Enter Rocco—sitting at the back bar, sipping a drink, minding his own business… until I asked him to move over a seat. (He didn’t.) Instead, he looked at me, smirked, and said no. That “no” started a conversation, and that conversation started everything.

Our first date? Dinner at Café Routier in Westbrook, then a drink by the water in Mystic. We dated for two months, hit pause (because life’s messy), but something kept pulling us back. We reconnected, rekindled, and sealed the deal on June 22, 2020. And on December 22, 2023, we made it official-official and said “I do.”

So yeah, sometimes love doesn’t come with fireworks and grand entrances. Sometimes it shows up at a seafood bar while you’re rocking a sarcastic T-shirt and sipping Pinot Grigio.

Moral of the story?
Don’t ever give up on love. Don’t stop showing up for yourself. And for the love of all things good—wear the damn funny shirt. You never know who’s going to notice.
