PamRoc Rewinds: Pam Reflects on Her Cherished Memories with Connecticut Children’s Medical Center

Some chapters in life leave an imprint on your heart forever—and for me, co-chairing the Connecticut Children’s Storybook Gala is one of them.

During my time on the Friends Board, I had the honor of helping this magical event grow into something truly extraordinary. We reached a major milestone—raising over $1 million—a moment so powerful it required us to move the gala from the Marriott Downtown to the Connecticut Convention Center to make room for the ever-growing support from our generous community. It was a testament to what passion and purpose can accomplish.

Along the way, I was lucky enough to meet some truly remarkable individuals whose commitment to this cause lit up every room:

• Tony Orlando – A legend not just in music, but in heart. His warmth and deep dedication to helping others left a mark on everyone who met him.
• Ben Vereen – An icon whose spirit and genuine love for children added so much heart to our mission.
• Mike Lupica – A voice in sports journalism and a true friend to our community, always showing up with grace and generosity.

And of course, some incredible local talent helped bring the gala to life year after year. Mike Hydeck, and the unforgettable team of Dennis House and Kara Sundlun, brought their charm and energy to the mic—elevating the night with every word they shared.

But beyond the lights, the speeches, and the grand total raised, it’s the people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes that hold the deepest place in my heart. Tracy, Jen, Chrissy, and Jodie—women who started as fellow board members and became sisters of the soul. Our shared passion for this cause created a bond I will always treasure.

Supporting Connecticut Children’s wasn’t just about throwing a beautiful event—it was about giving back to a mission I believed in with all my heart. And in return, it gave me some of the most meaningful friendships and moments of my life.
